Student Information

General College admits students who we believe can benefit from our challenging and supportive academic environment. We help students develop the skills they need for academic success, and prepare them for transfer to one of the degree-granting colleges at the University of Minnesota. Many U of M graduates who began their college education in GC have become leaders in such fields as business, law and government, education, the arts, communication, and health care.

General College advisers and student services staff work closely with students from admission through transfer. We help you choose courses, explore majors, locate helpful resources in the college and the university, and gain the skills needed for successful completion of your degree.
