ORE Services and Staff

  • Database design and maintenance
  • Access to information in the University's Data Warehouse (e.g., if student registration or admission information is needed for a research project)
  • Curriculum and program evaluation
  • Consultation on research design, implementation, and analysis

As a GC faculty or staff member you might want to contact ORE if:

  1. You are doing research and need pre-college entry data (ACT information, high school percentile. to name a few) and college performance information (GPA, credits completed, etc.) for students to use in your analyses.
  2. ORE staff have access to the University's Data Warehouse, which contains admissions and registration information (current and historical). Primary contact for this type of request is Jennifer Connor.

  3. You are doing research and would like to develop an online data collection instrument.
  4. ORE staff have experience in designing web-based data collection mechanisms. One example of this is the electronic Midsemester Review Process (new this Fall). Primary contacts for this type of request are Robert Diggins and Jennifer Connor.

  5. You are doing research and would like assistance with methodological design and/or data analysis.
  6. ORE staff have experience with data analysis procedures such as General Linear Modeling, Multiple Regression, and Covariance Structure Modeling (Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling). Primary contacts for this type of request are Jennifer Connor and Cathy Wambach.

  7. You have an idea or see a need for a specific curriculum or program evaluation project.

Your ideas and feedback, gathered from your practical experience "in the trenches" of teaching, are valuable in helping to shape a research agenda for ORE. Primary contacts for this are Cathy Wambach and Jennifer Connor.

Data Reporting Functions

Midsemester Reviews (MSR)

ORE helps produce Midsemester Review reports near the 6th week of each semester. These reports are filled out by instructors and reflect each student's achievement in the course at that point. These reports are meant to alert advisors to problems that their students may be having with current course work.

Class Lists

Class Lists are updated during the first weeks of the term and provided for instructors electronically on the GC file server.

Student Services

ORE provides tabled information to support Student Services administration. Such information includes GC student academic standing (GPA, credits completed, Dean’s list status etc.) and registration status.
