Such activities should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of integrated contributions to research and education. NSF encourages submission of CAREER proposals from junior faculty members at all CAREER-eligible organizations and especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and persons with disabilities to apply. |

| August 17, 2006 | Research Experiences for Undergraduates The REU program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or projects designed especially for the purpose. The program seeks to expand student participation in all kinds of research—whether disciplinary, interdisciplinary, or educational in focus—encompassing efforts by individual investigators, groups, centers, national facilities, and others. |
| September 17, 2006 | Enhancing Diversity in the Geosciences This primary goal of this program is to increase participation in the geosciences by African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Native Pacific Islanders and persons with disabilities. A secondary goal is to increase the perceived relevance of the geosciences among broad and diverse segments of the population. The program supports activities that will increase the number of members of underrepresented groups that are involved in formal pre-college geoscience education programs; pursue bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees in the geosciences; enter geoscience careers; and participate in informal geoscience education programs. |
Deadlines
Grants at the University of Minnesota are due to the Sponsored Projects Administration or University of Minnesota Foundation offices a minimum of 48 hours before the funding agency deadline. Grants must be processed at General College prior too that time.
Please plan for all grants to be completed and to the General College grants office a minimum of 72 hours prior to the deadline.
