
The mission of the General College (GC) Grants Office is to provide high-quality grant development consulting to the faculty, staff and programs at GC. The goal of the Grants Office is to attract new funding sources to further the educational and research missions of GC.

- Congratulations to Rashné Jehangir who has received notification that she’s been awarded a Grant-in-Aid of Research, Artistry and Scholarship from the Graduate School effective January 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. Rashné’s project, entitled Longitudinal Impact of Learning Communities on First-Generation College Students, will involve follow-up with participants in the Fall 2001 Multicultural Learning Community to assess the extent of the long term impact their participation had on persistence in college.
- The US Department of Education has approved a 3-year grant for a new project entitled Pedagogy and Student Services for Institutional Transformation (PASS-IT). Funded through the Department's "Demonstration Projects to Ensure Students with Disabilities Receive a Higher Education" program, the project is a collaborative effort of U of M Disability Services, General College and CRDEUL. The award is for $904,483 over 3 years. Jeanne Higbee is Project Director and the Project Coordinator is Emily Goff.
- Susan Warfield, Anne Rieke, and the Student Parent Help Center on the award of a $147,454 grant from the US Department of Education through its "Child Care Access Means Parents in School" program. The grant will enable the SPHC to increase the number of low-income undergraduate student parents who receive financial assistance for child care. The grant is renewable for three additional years, contingent upon availability of federal funds.
- Gary Peter, who has received a $1,000 grant from SASE: The Write Place and The Jerome Foundation. The program funds Minnesota writers and will enable Gary to work on his novel with mentoring and feedback assistance from Minneapolis writer and teacher Paulette Bates Alden
