Scholarships
are awarded each spring to incoming and current General College
students.
To be considered for scholarships for the 2005-06 academic
year, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be or have been a General College student fall semester
2004 and spring semester 2005.
- Have a minimum cumulative
grade point average of 2.8 or higher at the end of fall semester
2004, and expect a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or
better at the end of spring semester 2005 (including zero-level
coursework).
- Have identified financial need as demonstrated
by a 2005-06 financial aid application.
- Be registered for
a minimum of 13 credits each semester and expect to complete
26 credits at the end of spring semester, including zero-level
coursework.
General College Academic Scholarship
Funded by contributions from alumni and friends of the General
College and awarded to General College students.
GC Faculty and Staff-Supported Scholarships
Awarded to GC students from generous contributions provided
by former and current General College faculty and staff.
General College Learning Abroad Scholarship
Established to provide GC students with an opportunity to participate
in an international learning experience in conjunction with
Global Campus Study Abroad–Office of International Programs.
Greater Minnesota Scholarship
Fund
Offered beginning fall
semester 2005.
Will fund an annual full-tuition scholarship
for an incoming GC student residing in rural areas of greater
Minnesota.
Greater 12-County Metropolitan
Scholarship Fund
Offered beginning
fall semester 2005.
Will fund an annual full-tuition scholarship
for an incoming GC student residing in the 12-county metropolitan
area and who has been identified by a high school counselor
as a promising student in need of financial assistance.
Fred and Earline Estes Family Scholarship
Established to encourage and support low-income students who
would enhance diversity within the University. A plus factor
will be given to African American students who are making academic
progress in the General College.
McCutcheon Family Scholarship
Offered to GC students who meet low-income standards. A plus
factor will be given to first-generation students (first in
their family to attend college).
Norman W. Moen Award
Awarded to a GC or CLA freshman or sophomore for work in Minnesota
history.
General College Scholarship Initiative
To award academic achievement for students who would enhance
diversity within the University. A plus factor will be given
to Native American students.
Schelske Family Scholarship
Benefits first-generation General College students interested
in science and technology.
H. T. Morse General College Scholarship
Rewards students who have been on the GC Dean’s List
(3.67 GPA) the first two consecutive semesters of their University
experience.
Commanding English Scholarship
Awarded to a student from the General College Commanding English
program (ESL learner). |
