Gift of Financial Support

General College must anticipate and respond to many changes and challenges that are reshaping higher education. With your help, the college will be able to increase the proportion of students who remain in school, transfer into degree programs, and graduate from the University of Minnesota. Your assistance can also be directed toward investing in our faculty's developmental education research agenda.

There are many ways to give to General College that not only help to promote excellence, but also contribute to your own personal and financial goals. For details, contact Deb Wilkens-Costello, director of development, at 612-625-8398 or wilke041@umn.edu.

You may make a gift with a credit card at http://www.giving.umn.edu. Be sure to check "General College"!

David V. Taylor Scholarship Fund

In honor of Dean Taylor, the General College has established the David V. Taylor Scholarship Fund as an endowment to assist low-income students.

For 16 years, Dean Taylor led the college by example, with compassion and genuine interest in the well-being of the students, faculty, staff, and community. He was instrumental in facing the many challenges that General College confronted over the years to secure the mission and values of the college. His dedication to the students of General College and their education was always his focus.

We look forward to creating a meaningful role and building a long-lasting structure for General College and the students we serve. Your contributions will make a tangible difference in the lives of our students.

$25,000 scholarship match program
For a limited time, the University of Minnesota Foundation is offering a one-to-one scholarship dollars matching program. With a minimum gift of $25,000 to the General College for scholarship support of incoming students, your dollars are matched!

If you cannot begin to consider a gift of $25,000 at this time, think about a creative way to make this happen. Do you have four other friends who could afford a contribution of $5,000 each or 24 other friends who could afford a gift of $1,000? Any combination will work! MORE>>

Scholarship descriptions and eligibility requirements

New Matching Gift Program
A new matching gift program provided by the TCF Foundation, the philanthropic arm of TCF National Bank, is available to alumni and friends making their first gift to the General College and those who made their first gift last fiscal year are also eligible. Gifts of up to $10,000 will qualify for the match as long as the gift is designated to a scholarship fund. The program, designed to provide extra incentive to first-time donors, is a limited-time opportunity through Dec. 31, 2005 or until all matching funds have been spent, whichever comes first.

Women's Philanthropic Leadership Circle
Our vision is to bring together women whose gifts, when combined, will develop other women leaders and philanthropists. The Circle is a volunteer-driven organization of the General College. Members of the Circle pledge to pool their resources by contributing at least $3,000 over three years. Annually, the Circle membership will determine where to in invest the group's resources within General College. For more information, contact Deb Wilkens-Costello at wilke041@umn.edu.
